Resurrection of Arts in Corporate World

Quoting Humanities as woman in a man’s world i.e Science wouldn’t be too inappropriate, but just as surely are women making their mark in world, so is Humanities. Now that I’ve opened my article with a gender reference issue, which is an humanitarian issue; you would understand how broad Humanities is.

The Arts, The Basis of the Modern World.

In today’s day and age, studying Humanities not only takes you along the path of innumerable opportunities but helps you develop and grow from an average human being to a critical thinker, an astute analyst and a logical decision-maker. The reasons to pursue career in this particular stream are as many as you want to explore. Humanities students have an edge over Science and Commerce students in the sense that Organisations, even those of science, finance or tech focused, require individuals who are trained to communicate, think critically, synthesize and analyse data; it is exactly these abilities which are developed through the study of the arts and humanities. As the concept of ‘ Human Capital‘ is catching its pace, Humanities graduates can add efficiently to the productivity of workplace they’re engaged in, making them more employable in today’s market scenario.

Having studied Humanities, one can go from being a Lawyer to a Social scientist, Psychological analyst to Fashion designer and what not. Such wide range of applications also help Humanities students to extend their foot on the Commerce ground too. Since Economics is a sister discipline, taking it up or doing introductory courses in finance can be helpful. Business fields like Corporate Journalism ( most example being Economic Times ) or Portfolio Management are spheres where employing Humanities graduates isn’t minded as long as they're skilled.

Interdisciplinary courses are a rage in today’s market, these courses are new and comparatively ‘unconventional’; you get to draw and learn from more than one discipline which is certainly beneficial as you learn collaborative skills and creative problem solving abilities to issues which are infected by more than one aspect. Interdisciplinary courses provide you with such connected learning that it motivates you to receive a more meaningful education, rather than mugging up something you treat as casually as syllabus. Having a qualification in Interdisciplinary courses trains you in a way which makes you eligible for more than one specific job profile.

It’s unfortunate that societal dogma resists Humanities from taking the credit it deserves but the multifaceted aspects and flamboyance of this stream is now making it more and more appealing for students who find their future lying ahead here. So let the HR manager within you step out or write your own thesis for academics is your power.

All Hail to Humanities for it is the Queen of the hour.
