Whether it is a job for a delivery boy, or a sales manager, or an executive at a multinational company, every job has some basic

necessities: Willing Workers and a Curriculum vitae. Yes, Latin exists today too.

So, what is a Curriculum Vitae?

"A curriculum vitae (CV) is a detailed and comprehensive description of your academic credentials and achievements. You will use a CV if you’re a master’s degree-holder or PhD applying for a teaching or research position at a college, university, or research institution. You may also use your CV during graduate school to apply for grants, fellowships, or teaching positions."

In the recent CV building workshop conducted by Abhyas, it was gathered that an ideal CV should consist of one's personal details, personal achievements, academic qualifications, work experiences (if any), extra curricular activities, the particular skill sets you possess, and your hobbies and interests.

The purpose of this CV is to get you a good impression during an interview. Keep it short, interesting and to the point. Due to the high volume of CVs a job can get, a Recruit Manager spends not more than 30 seconds to go through your CV which gives them an outlook on yourself and what you can do. For reasons like these, making a short and crisp CV is essential.

What should I exclude?

•Long paragraphs

•Too bright texts and fonts

•Jazzy images

•Typographical errors and omissions

•Bulletins and structures of information piled up under one header

•No stable chronological order followed etc.

All of these are very common mistakes one is prone to make.

How long should my CV be?

As an undergraduate or graduate student, one's CV should not be longer than a page, at the most a page and a half.

A resume is a great way to express your professionalism to the interviewers. It shows your work ethics and creative space. So how would your ideal CV be then? Make sure to let us know too!

Check out this sample CV attached below to clarify your doubts regarding the right format when you're making your own Curriculum Vitae, we hope it helps!
